Two lines with slopes m 1 and m 2 are perpendicular if m 1 = - 1 m 2
So, since the slope of y = - 22 3 x is - 22 3 , the perpendicular slope is 3 22 .
Once we know the slope and a point ( x 0 , y 0 ) the equation for the line with that slope passing through that point is
y - y 0 = m ( x - x 0 )
Plugging your values, we have
y - 9 = 3 22 ( x + 1 )
y = 3 22 x + 3 22 + 9 = 3 22 x + 201 22
