If a line is parallel to another it simply means that the two lines have the same gradient.
So a line parallel to,
y=−2x+4
will have the general formula,
y=−2x+c
so given a point on the line like (1,1) we can determine the actual equation of the line by subbing in.
1=−2(1)+c
c=3
leaving us with,
y=−2x+3
as our new line.
