Let's give the number of putts Paul made the value of P and the number of putts Chris made the value of C/
We know Chris got four times as many putts as Paul, so C=4P
Also, we know their combined score is 60.
Therefore, 4 P + P = 60
4 P + P = 5 P
5 P = 60
5 P 5 = P = 60 5 = 12
So, Paul got 12 putts.
