The given equation is in polar coordinates (r,θ) and relation between polar coordinates and Cartesian coordinates (x,y) is given by
x=rcosθ and y=rsinθ i.e. x2+y2=r2
Then r=2cosθ can be written as r2=2rcosθ
i.e. x2+y2=2x or x2+y22x=0
or (x1)2+y2=12
Thus, r=2cosθ represents a circle with centre (1,0) and radius 1 and (1,0) in polar coordinates too is (1,0).
